SSG Landers’ veteran slugger Jeong Choi has once again etched his name in KBO history, becoming the first player to record 21 consecutive seasons with double-digit home runs.

During an away game against KT Wiz at Suwon KT Wiz Park on May 12, Choi launched a solo home run over the left-field wall in the top of the first inning. The blast, his 10th of the season, came off KT starter Matt Sauer, who had struck out the first two batters of the game.

With two outs and no one on base, Choi wasted no time, smashing Sauer’s first-pitch sweeper (131 km/h) off the left-field foul pole. The homer moved Choi into second place on this season’s home run list, trailing only KIA Tigers’ Kim Do-young, who has 12.

More importantly, Choi’s achievement extends his streak of double-digit home runs to 21 seasons (2006–2026), the longest such run in KBO history. The next closest is Choi Hyung-woo (Samsung Lions) with 18 consecutive seasons (2008–2025).

The milestone came in a game that also saw SSG pitcher Kim Geon-woo earn his league-leading sixth win, helping the team snap a two-game losing streak and defeat first-place KT 5-1.
