Grant Scott: We didn't show enough of our qualities against Hearts

Celtic FC Women suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to Hearts at the weekend, falling to the league leaders. While manager Grant Scott saw some positives, the loss left him frustrated.

Speaking to Celtic TV after the match, Scott said: “Overall, I’m not hugely disappointed apart from the result, but I don’t think it was our best performance. I was a bit disappointed with our urgency. At times, we showed glimpses of the attacking team I want us to be, but our quality didn’t shine through, and we didn’t create enough chances to put them under real pressure. It’s always disappointing to lose, but we’ll take what we can from this, learn, and keep moving forward. There wasn’t much in the match—some individual battles were won, some lost—but ultimately, our quality on the ball didn’t show enough. It was there now and then, but we didn’t threaten their goal enough.”

Celtic’s next fixture is a Glasgow derby against Rangers at Broadwood Stadium. The match serves as a dress rehearsal for the Scottish Cup final between the sides later this month, and Scott is aiming for a strong performance and a positive result. “It’s the oldest thing in football—you have to dust yourself down from tough moments,” he said. “This is a good game to bounce back in, a good game to play in. They’re always tough battles, but I’ll ask the players for performance and quality above everything else next week. We’ll go into the game and try to win it.”
