The qualifying session for the 2026 F1 Miami Grand Prix concluded on the morning of May 3, with Andrea Kimi Antonelli claiming pole position with a stunning lap time of 1:27.798. Max Verstappen pushed hard in the final moments to secure second place, while Charles Leclerc rounded out the top three.
Lando Norris finished fourth, followed by George Russell in fifth, Lewis Hamilton in sixth, Oscar Piastri in seventh, and Franco Colapinto in eighth.
Prior to the start of qualifying, F1 officials announced that Bortoleto’s sprint race result had been disqualified due to a technical infringement discovered during post-race scrutineering.
Drivers eliminated in Q1 included: Lindblad, Fernando Alonso, Lance Stroll, Valtteri Bottas, Sergio Perez, and Bortoleto. Notably, Piastri narrowly avoided elimination using a set of old soft tires. Bortoleto’s left rear brake disc caught fire during the cooldown lap, causing a brief delay to Q2. It was a fiery afternoon for the two Audi cars.
Q2 saw the elimination of Nico Hulkenberg, Liam Lawson, Oliver Bearman, Carlos Sainz, Esteban Ocon, and Alex Albon. Verstappen set the fastest time of the segment with a 1:28.116.
