Manchester City have been crowned champions of the Women’s Super League for the second time in their history, ending Chelsea’s six-year grip on the title a decade after their previous triumph.

With 52 points and a game still in hand, the Citizens secured the top spot mathematically after Arsenal’s 1-1 draw at Brighton on Wednesday. The north London side can no longer overtake City, even if they win their two remaining matches.
It was Arsenal’s second consecutive disappointment in a matter of days, following their elimination by French side Lyon in the Women’s Champions League semifinals, where the Gunners were the defending champions.

Chelsea, with 46 points in second place, had already mathematically bid farewell to the title after six years as champions. Since Manchester City’s first league title in 2016, the two London clubs had shared domestic championship victories.
Spanish international Leila Ouahabi is part of the Manchester City squad, having played 14 matches and registered two assists in the league this season.
