Barcelona head coach Hansi-Dieter Flick shared how his mother called him in the morning to inform him of his father’s passing, and how the team responded to the news. In the 35th round of La Liga, the Catalan side defeated Real Madrid 2-0.

“My mother called me in the morning and told me my father had died. I thought about whether it would be better not to tell the team, but in the end, they are like family, and I wanted to share it with them. I will never forget their reaction. I’m very happy to work with this magnificent team. I’m incredibly proud of the squad, and I think you can see our bond. Everyone feels part of the project; they are connected to one another. Following this match, Barcelona secured the Spanish league title early. The team tops the La Liga standings with 91 points, while Real Madrid sit in second place with 77 points. Three rounds remain in the season.
